Cordia’s marketing and facilities management teams were the stars of this year’s EDUcatering Excellence Awards, both picking up trophies at the prestigious awards ceremony.
The Marketing award was presented to Cordia for the work on the Mary’s Meals campaign, Pitch in for a Kitchen, which raised more than £10,000 and allowed the charity to build a kitchen at Milonga School in the Thyolo district of Malawi.
Managing director David Melvin said: “During the Mary’s Meals promotion, the marketing team worked in close partnership with facilities management operations to identify the best and most original campaign.
“We are very proud of the work carried out by all of the staff who took part in the campaign, and winning this award is an excellent achievement for everyone involved.”
Also presented to Cordia on the evening was the Innovation award, which recognised the introduction of three external food huts in secondary schools across Glasgow which offer pupils an alternative outlet to purchase food on their breaks whilst also discouraging them from leaving school premises.
Head of facilities management Julia McCreadie said: “The new outdoor service points we have installed in our secondary schools are just the latest in a long line of initiatives launched by Cordia to introduce a more flexible approach to school catering in Glasgow.”
“We are extremely proud to have won the award for innovation, and to be recognised for the hard work our staff carry out across the city.”
