Pupils moving on to secondary school this year will have a number of options of where to purchase and eat their lunch.
Cordia have opened alternative outlets for pupils to enjoy a healthy lunch in all of Glasgow’s 30 secondary schools. These new catering concepts were created following consultation with pupils and include huts, cafés, mobile counters, snack and drink “vendbanks” and fixed coffee bars.
Most recently, Cafe Mezz in Springburn Academy was officially opened by Glasgow comedian Des Clarke who also awarded one lucky pupil with two tickets to see Jessie J in concert.
The stylish cafés feature a wide range of sophisticated beverages including teas and coffees and are home to a relaxed environment of sofas and dining bars with stools.
The huts, meanwhile, offer a healthy alternative to high street snack vans, fast food outlets and chip shops while encouraging pupils to stay on the school premises during their breaks.
The huts and cafés feature a full range of hot and cold foods which meet Scottish Government legislation on nutrition, and offer pupils greater choice in the drinks and snacks they can buy within the school grounds.
We hope those moving to secondary school will enjoy these new outlets as much as our current secondary pupils.
